On each side of Christ are the Mother of God and Saint John, the beloved disciple, reflecting the holy scene at Golgotha. Above Christ is Archangel Michael, the great heavenly commander and defender against evil. Below is the Guardian Angel, symbolizing divine protection, guidance, and God’s care over the soul.
The front bail features Спас Нерукотворний — Christ “Not Made by Hands,” one of the most revered images in Eastern Christian tradition, representing the holy face of Christ and His divine presence.
